• Knotty Headwear update 13 (August 2014). Updated information on increasing loops in a row, since what I had previously thought was a "modern" increase I have seen used in a period hairnet.
• Knotty Headwear update 12 (June 2014). Added back the instructions on how to make a starter chain.
• Knotty Headwear update 11(June 2012). Changes to remove annotated list of websites, which can still be found on the main page
  
• Knotty Headwear update 9 (February 2010). Has an improved diagram of the basic netting knot.


• Knotty Headwear: How to Net a Medieval Caul or Snood (revised 9/5/05) (PDF file, 17 pages, 2.55 MB)
  Information on starter chain technique removed, since that won't be used in classes anymore. Added illustrations of nets from paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder showing women wearing later-period hairnets.


• October 22, 2004 (first handout with illustrations from Diderot's encyclopedia. Still has starter chain instructions, but has better information on spiral netting, including illustrations.


• January 16, 2004 (has the modern "collecting knot" technique for making tubes of netting described, plus how to start a net using a starter chain)
