• Knotty Headwear: How to Net a Medieval Caul or Snood (revised 9/5/05) (PDF file, 17 pages, 2.55 MB)
  Information on starter chain technique removed, since that won't be used in classes anymore. Added illustrations of nets from paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder showing women wearing later-period hairnets.


• October 22, 2004 (first handout with illustrations from Diderot's encyclopedia. Still has starter chain instructions, but has better information on spiral netting, including illustrations.


• January 16, 2004 (has the modern "collecting knot" technique for making tubes of netting described, plus how to start a net using a starter chain)
